Hengye manufactures adsorbents and catalysts for a wide range of applications. Molecular sieve, activated alumina, and silica gel have an affinity for adsorbing water compounds, which makes these products great desiccants. As the needs of applications become more intricate, we have developed more advanced products for specialized filtration applications such as sulfur removal from LNG and LPG streams in sweetening processes and specialized catalysts, which are of removing specific contaminants or facilitating reactions such as the hydrolization of H2S.

Molecular Sieve

Overview

Our molecular sieve products have a specialized production process, which allows for the creation of reliable, uniform zeolite crystals. Zeolite crystals can be used in powder form or blended with clays to form beads or extrudates. Mixing zeolite with clay produces products that are more durable and easier to handle than powders, which enables molecular sieve technology to be utilized in industrial processes such as natural gas purification, air separation, petroleum refining, and ethanol dehydration. The blending of zeolite and clay is performed in a controlled environment with clean equipment to optimize the performance of the zeolite products and ensure that each production batch will meet or exceed industry standards as provided in Hengye Specification Sheets.

Hengye offers a wide range of zeolite products, some of which are specialized to perform specific sieving tasks that allow our users to create a cleaner, higher value end product that meets environmental and industrial requirements. Amongst the different types of molecular sieves, Hengye offers type 3A, 4A, 5A, 13X and specialty zeolites, all of which have different adsorption capabilities and selectivity from compounds such as water, which has a relatively small molecular diameter, to molecularly larger compounds such as heavy mercaptans and sulfides. Our specialty zeolites have specific properties that offer superior abilities such as zeolites with high density to allow more capacity per bed and zeolites with proprietary blending processes, which allows deep dehydration or ultrahigh purification abilities. Aside from being designed with specifications that allow high function, zeolites can also be promoted or exchanged with cations to offer very specific functions such as mercury removal, separating nitride and light hydrocarbons from air, or for use in fluid catalytic crackers.

Type A

 

When Type A crystals are grown, they initially are all Type 4A, meaning the pore openings are four Angstroms in diameter with an A-Type crystal structure. These 4A crystals are capable of adsorbing molecules that are smaller than 4 angstroms in diameter, such as water, while allowing larger molecules, such as methane, to pass along to the desired product stream. The pore size of Type 4A can be manipulated, which allows molecular sieve to be used to adsorb, or exclude, certain molecules depending on the new pore size and the desired results.

Type X

 

Type X crystals are shaped differently from Type A crystals are tend to offer much larger pore sizes, about 9 Angstroms in diameter. 13X molecular sieve is often used to produce oxygen or in cryogenic distillation processes to deeply dehydrate LNG and LPG streams. It is critical to remove all water from these streams to prevent blockage and freezing in pipelines. There are many variations of Type X crystals with most being Type 13X.

 


Activated Alumina

Overview

Activated alumina is commonly used in bulk dehydration processes and frequently used as a guard layer to protect more expensive aluminas and catalysts. Activated alumina is a versatile product that can be designed in specialized manners to allow different functions including the purification of water, chloride scavengers for use in reformate stream purification, and sulfur removal from natural gas or petroleum streams. Activated alumina can also be used in air separation processes to remove contaminants from air streams.

Activated alumina is available as a powder or the following beaded forms: 1/16″, 1/8″, 3/16″, 1/4″, and 7×14 mesh
Physical Adsorption

Activated alumina as an adsorbent is most commonly used to adsorb gases, liquids, and can be applied in both PSA and TSA units to remove H2O. Activated alumina can be used as a filter to remove contaminants from various feed streams, such as fluorine from drinking water and drying liquids and gases. Activated alumina, manufactured by Hengye, offers a high physisorption capacity while maintaining durability and is suitable for bulk dehydration and cryogenic air purification including air dryers, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbon streams, nitrogen, oxygen, and much more.

Chemical Adsorption

Activated alumina can be promoted with various compounds to enhance chemisorption abilities. The promoters used in combination with activated alumina are specially designed to target contaminants that standard activated alumina would not normally be able to remove. Activated alumina products that utilize chemisorption abilities are not typically able to be regenerated, but offer a wide range of capabilities.

Catalysts come in many forms, colors, and sizes depending on the specific. requirements of each application
Overview

Our catalysts are promoted with compounds that increase catalytic function such as titanium dioxide or soda. Catalysts are specialized products that are used to lower the required temperature for a reaction to occur. Typically, a catalyst has a high surface area, which offers a location to assist the occurrence of these desired reactions. Hengye manufactures various types of catalysts from applications such as chloride scavenging for use in reformate stream purification and sulfur removal from natural gas or petroleum streams. We offer catalysts for the Claus Process, both high alumina, promoted or blended, and Claus Catalysts with high titanium dioxide content to facilitate the conversation of various sulfur compounds into hydrogen sulfide to be suitable for recovery. Hengye also has catalysts for tail gas hydrogenation to allow Claus Plants to recovery maximum sulfur.

Claus Catalysts

In the Claus process, sulfur is recovered from H2S and can be used for an array of purposes including fertilizer additives. Hengye offers multiple variations in its branded SulCat Series of Claus catalysts to suit the needs of our users, depending on environmental requirements and feed composition. Alumina SulCat can be used for recovery of sulfur from H2S. Promoted SulCat, Blended SulCat, or Super SulCat can be used to recover sulfur from H2S while also converting COS and CS2 into H2S to further remove the presence of sulfur from the stream.

Tail Gas Catalysts

Hydro SulCat is a specialized sulfur catalyst for tail gas hydrogenation. For increased sulfur recovery, some units are equipped with a tail gas unit where SO2 is recovered to be recycled back into the sulfur recovery unit to react with H2S and form sulfur.

Gas Purification Catalysts

Specialized catalysts are used to create pure streams of specialized gases such as hydrogen, neon, xenon, and krypton. These deoxidant grade catalysts are commonly used in the lighting industry to fill the bulbs with specialty gases and in metallurgy applications.

Silica Gel

Overview

White, nonindicating silica gel is most commonly used for bulk dehydration and appears as white beads or in granular form. Silica gel is often used as a desiccant to remove water from atmospheric air or for use in desiccant air dryers. Aside from white silica gel, our products can also be indicating, whether a blue color that turns to pink or a yellow that turns to green. These color indicating silica gels are great for indicating to the user when water adsorption capacity has been reach and the product is ready to be regenerated or replaced. We also offer specialized silicas such as silica alumina for use in the Natural Gas industry, which help separate light hydrocarbons by reducing the dew point, while simultaneously dehydrating natural gas and gasoline. We also have silica gels for beer production, wide pore options, non-cracking, and more.
