Molecular Sieve is used in the Air Compression, Separation, and Purification industry to dehydrate and clean air for compression tanks, to separate gases like carbon dioxide (CO2) for use in soda machines, and to purify gases like oxygen (O2) for use as Medical Oxygen.


Air separation can produce a series of high purity gaseous or liquid products, including oxygen, nitrogen, and other rare gases. Separation methods include cryogenic distillation, Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA), Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption (VPSA), and more.

In traditional cryogenic air separation, the moisture and CO2 in the feed air freezes in low temperatures, blocking and clogging equipment and piping; thus, hydrocarbons (especially acetylene) build up in the air separation plant equipment and could cause a nasty explosion under the wrong conditions. Before feeding gas into the cryogenic separation process, these impurities (H2O, CO2, C2H2, etc.) must to be removed by pre-purification units, which are filled with Molecular Sieve.

Pressure Swing Adsorption Separation

Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA), for separating oxygen/nitrogen, is widely used in medium and small-scale air separation plants.  PSA separation techniques tend to replace the traditional cryogenic air separation because of its low investment, low energy consumption, and easy operation.    Oxygen or nitrogen is separated, and then oxygen or oxygen-enriched air is captured.  This process occurs under the theory that Molecular Sieve for oxygen generation adsorbs nitrogen and oxygen at different rates in a certain pressure condition.
